The National Museum of Ireland

                                 The Stone Age
We have been doing a lot of work learning about the stone age.
A few weeks ago we went on a trip to the National Museum of Ireland to see some artefacts from this period.
We really enjoyed seeing the tools and pottery that they made.
We saw a passage tomb that was created from stones of this period.
We discovered more about the food they ate and what type of transport they used.
We would highly recommend taking a trip to the museum.
Keep an eye on our blog for more work on this topic.

Instructional writing

                         Chocolate apples
Before the mid term break we were learning about instructional writing in literacy.
We read different recipes and instructions that we might come across in our everyday life.
We wrote out instructions together and went to the staff room to make our chocolate apples.
We used Apples, cooking chocolate and sprinkles.

Here we are breaking the chocolate.
Next we put the broken chocolate into the microwave.

After 30 seconds we took it out to give it a stir.

we put our apples on sticks before we covered them with chocolate.
Next we dipped the apples into the chocolate.
Last but not least we enjoyed our chocolate apples.

Stepping up in the snow!

We are stepping up in Scoil Mhuire to measure how much energy we use. It is encouraging us to be more active. We are using a pedometer to count how many steps we are taking each day. The class who has taken the most steps will receive the golden boot, Second place wins the silver Wellington and third place gets the fluorescent flip flop.
Here are some photos of us enjoying the snow while counting our steps.

Green Fashion Show

In Scoil Mhuire we are very conscious of the environment and are proud to say we have 6 green flags.  In October we created costumes and fashion items from recycled materials. We walked down the catwalk to show our inventive creations.
Here are some photos of the days of preparation and the Green fashion show.
